Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thank you Krista Riley for rescuing me from my cookie disasters!! I love a good chocolate chip cookie. I have fond memories of making cookies with my older brother and sister each Sunday as a child. I guess I was more focused on snitching some dough because I cannot bake a good cookie for the life of me. Krista promised me this recipe was a no-fail. And she was right! Wahoo! My heart is so happy! I finally made a batch of cookies worth eating. Thanks for sharing your delicious recipe!

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp hot water
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Drop large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans. Bake for about 10 min, or until edges are lightly browned. (less is more!)
